looking from older graves to Church

Alamance Presbyterian Church cemetery is the burial ground for many in my Hanner and Young lines. My 4th great grandfather, Robert Hanner, is reportedly buried here. Many other Hanners are here also. My 3rd great grandparents, Col. Matthew and Sarah Vance Young, are buried here. Their daughter (my 2nd great grandmother), Susan E. A. Young Hanner, who married Daniel James Hanner (grandson of Robert) is buried here. Their union -- as well as the marriage of Robert C. Young and Caroline Isabella Hanner -- brought the Hanner and Young families together. Alamance Cemetery is a very special place of remembrance for our family.

Flagpole near First Church market at corner of cemetery. Installed in 2004 by Adam Aydelette as his Boy Scout Eagle project. Dedicated to military veterans.
