This church & cemetery are located in Jackson Twp. Highland Co., Ohio. On 8/6/1854 (original deed book 20, page 480) George Gilmore & Mary his wife conveyed one-half acre to Thomas Mullenix, John A. Long, Henry Miller, George Gilmore and Jared Hopkins, Trustees of the Protestant Methodist Church "for the purpose of erecting a meeting house or house of worship."
For years this cemetery was known as Gilmore Cemetery. A later church, built in 1884, stands beside this cemetery.
This picture was taken from the Hillsboro, Ohio "Press Gazette" of Friday, 8/24/1984. 100th Anniversary. The annual homecoming of the Union Chapel M.P.O. Church was held Sunday, 8/26/1984. There was a basket dinner at the noon hour followed with a short program. The church, located off Peach Orchard Road, near Belfast observed 100 years that year.
The Homecomings are still being held to this day.
