The history of Grace Church covers a period of 1797 to present day. The history can be divided into four eras.The log Church in 1797; The brick Union Church in 1858; The new brick Lutheran Church in 1942; The second brick Lutheran Church in 1950.

The early settlers were nearly all German Reform and Lutheran. They and their descendants were the founders and builders of Grace Church.

On January 11, 1797, a deed was executed; Three acres were transferred at a total cost of $8.00 and work began on the original Union Church, a log building. The second house of worship was built at a total cost of $1,400.00. When finished and dedicated, the Church was called "Grauden Knauden Birchem" which means"Grace Church"

On December 29 1940, it was mutually agreed by the Lutherans and Reforms, to dissolve the Union Church and workshop as independent churches.

This photo is of the second brick Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, built in 1950. It is the current house of worship, The brick Union Church built in 1858 is located across the street, along with the Church Cemetery.
