The Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery sits on a hill on Church Street and shares the grounds of the Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. This is the oldest continuously operating Czech Catholic Church in the United States. Spillville was founded in 1860 by Joseph Spielmann (76188691). Being in Spillville, one can see how the Czech composer Antonin Dvorak composing his greatest works here in 1893, among his countrymen and the beauty of the countryside. Spillville has been a backdrop for several artists who are interned in this cemetery: Brothers Joseph Bily (11095885) and Frank Bily (11095889) were farmers, like many of their neighbors, but their hobby defined them as master craftsmen. Their intricate clocks can be enjoyed at the Bily Brothers Museum in Spillville, which continues to preserve and display their genius. Karel "Charles" Andera (13696591), a Spillville local, created cast-iron grave markers from 1880 to 1920. These can be found in this cemetery and others throughout Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, North Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas.
