The cemetery is on the west side of 10th Street in the 900 and 1000 blocks and a bit more. There is neither a sign nor an address marker, though I suppose you could say that it is at 1001 10th St.
As of July 2011, I am attempting a comprehensive reading and photographing of this cemetery, the largest I have ever attempted. Since it is managed by the city, I have full access to the cemetery documentation which are public records. I am working systematically plot by plot entering the names and doing the photography bit by bit which has the effect of turning this cemetery into hundred of little cemeteries. Even so it is going more slowly than I anticipated. As of 5 Oct 2011, I have done 82 plots and hope to do 100 before the snow flies.
I am doing a comprehensive search of Find a Grave before entering each name so that I can eliminate duplicates, even of entries with an unknown burial location. Sometimes I forget or make a typographical error, and fail to find an earlier entry.
I am trying to document my sources. If there is no explicit reference to sources, I have used only the marker itself and, perhaps, MN vital records online data bases. Entries I made prior to July 2011 would have used only those two sources.
Then I tried to do data entry from a written list. While doing that I put in the "note" section a reference to the Richter List.
Finally I have decided to work plot by plot. If there is an entry under "Plot" you will know that my source was city records. Eventually I will catch up to and overwrite the Richter listings with better source data.
Update March 24, 2012 They have put out numbered stakes to mark the plots. I've been told they do this every winter but know I was there 2 years ago in the winter and didn't see them. I am systematically photographing whole plots, starting with the marker as a number. I hope to finish the older sections before they take the stakes out.
Update 28 July 2014. I have systematically worked through the sextons register for plots 1-100 and entered all burials listed there including those without markers. And I have sustematically photographed and posted the photos and/or created pages for plots 1-324, now designated sections E, F, G and H. I will continue working through the sexton's plot register at a later date, probably not this year. I will then do A, B, C and D. I try to catch up with photo requests twice a year.
