Son of James Anway and Nancy Miranda Watkins. Married Mary Ann Goldsmith November 04, 1894. Children: Cedric James, Ida Burkitt, Arthur Lorenzo, David George, Clifford William, Olive Lavina, Susan Jane, Clara Lucille, Helen Meranda, James Wilbur, Russell Howard, Sylvia Jeanetta.

James A. Anway, 77, Rites at Chatfield
Chatfield, Minn. - (Special)- Funeral services were held here Wednesday for James Allen Anway, 77, who died Saturday at the home of his son Russell in Welch township near here. He had been in poor health since suffering a stroke five years ago.

Born in Hansell, Iowa, March 12, 1872, Mr. Anway moved to Chatfield as a young man. He farmed near Chatfield for a number of years and married Miss Mary Ann Goldsmith there in 1894.

About 20 years ago he moved to Red Wing where he was employed at a stoneware factory until 1940. He was also a member of the Christ Episcopal church there.

He is survived by his wife and five sons; Arthur, Lead, S.D.; David, Hager City, Wis.; Russell, Welch township, and Clifford and James senior, Red Wing. Six daughters also survive. They are; Mrs. Charles (Ida) Stevenson, Cresco, Iowa; Mrs. John (Olive) McRae, Red Wing; Mrs. Beryl (Susan) Thompson, Bay City, Wis., and Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Hanson, Mrs. Spear (Clara) Laudas, and Mrs. Waldo (Sylvia) Klisest, all of Red Wing.

Three brothers still survive. They are Fred and Lewis Anway of Hampton, Iowa, and Harvey, Hansell, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. Caroline Watkins, also lives in Hansell. Also surviving are 35 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at Edstrom's Funeral home in Red Wing with the Rev. Monroe Bailey officiating, and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal church in Chatfield with the Rev. Leslie Hallet conducting the service. Burial was in the Chatfield Cemetery.
