Knights of the Golden Circle

The Knights of the Golden Circle (K. G. C.) was a secret society founded by George W. L. Bickley on July 4, 1854. The Knights merged with the Order of the Lone Star with the expansionist goal of forming a slave-holding empire that operated like the East India Company by annexing Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, and Central America into the United States. They called this region the Golden Circle. The K. G. C. had three degrees: Knights of the Iron Hand (Military), Knights of the True Faith (Financial), and the Knights of the Columbian Star (Political). After the election of Abraham Lincoln as President of the United States the K. G. C. shifted their objective from expansionism to southern secession. For K. G. C. artifacts go to https://www.facebook.com/KnightsoftheGoldenCircle58/. Sources: Hudson, Linda Sybert. "Military Knights of the Golden Circle in Texas." Master's thesis, Stephen F.
