Donald & Helen (Fisher) McGilp Family

Donald McGilp died in 1895 at the age of 45. He was survived by his wife Helen & six children. Widowed and unable to support a large family, Helen placed her minor children, Helen, Annie, John & Andrew in the custody of the Orphan Homes of Scotland (Quarrier's) located at Bridge of Weir near Glasgow. As the children came of age, Helen & Annie found employment in the neighboring communities and John & Andrew were deported to Canada as part of a forced child migration scheme in effect at that time... I am attempting to reunite the family on this web page! ~ D.McG
