Members of Calson's Second Raider Battalion killed in action on August 17, 1942 in the raid on Makin Ayoll in the Gilbert Islands, whose bodies were buried with respect by natives and recovered on August 17 2002 and reinterred in Arlington National Cemetery.Also survivors of the raid who continued in service in USMC including their leaders.
