I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. My daughter is the great, great, great, great, great, great granddaughter of Hewlett Townsend (1745-1828) who is listed in the DAR database for his patriotic service to the American Revolution (although that is being called into question because of the British occupation of Long Island). Presently, I am trying to figure out the connection between Robert Townsend (Washington's Famous Spy) of Oyster Bay and Hewlett Townsend whom I also believed lived in Oyster Bay.
