James Louis SWARTS was born in Olean, NY 9 November 1943. Lived and attended schools in Olean, Knapps Creek, and Allegany. Graduated Allegany Central School 1962. Briefly attended college in Salem, W.VA. Then served six-years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Damato DD-871) and at the NROTC Unite at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Rank: Personnelman 2nd Class (E-5). Attended the State University of New York College at Geneseo and earned a B.S.Ed. (1971) and M.A. in History (1976). Worked for the U.S. Treasury for 27+ yrs and retired in 1999. Attended Rochester Colgate Divinity School/Bexley Hall Seminary and was awarded a Masters of Divinity degree in 2000. Ordained in 2001. Taught History at SUNY Geneseo 2003-2017. Former President of the Rochester Genealogical Society. Over sixty years in Scouting (Eagle Scout 1959). Served on several boards. President of Rochester, NY chapter of Veterans For Peace.
