Bio

Lisa Saunders scours out-of-print books and long-forgotten letters to shed new light on historic figures who include the first American Army Ranger (Capt. Benjamin Church), a Union private (Charles McDowell) and his wife, and a leader in Shays' Rebellion (Capt. Henry Gale). Although Lisa prefers to write about the dead because they don't complain when their stories are published, she is curious about the living--especially those trying to make a difference--and interviews them on PAC-B TV, the public access channel of Baldwinsville, NY. Prior to her recent move back to New York, Lisa helped Connecticut become the second state in the U.S. to enact a law combating the #1 viral cause of birth defects, congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV), which led to the disabilities and death of her younger daughter as told in her book, "Anything But a Dog! The perfect pet for a girl with congenital CMV." A graduate of Cornell University, she is the author of 10 books and speaks regularly on the topics covered in her books.
