Bio
**** Like many others, it's hard to be here everyday. I welcome and appreciate your visits whenever you can. Know you feel the same. Be safe and well! ****
I'm a native Washingtonian (D.C.), and live with my husband in its Virginia suburbs. (Didn't get very far, did I?!) All of my career was spent working with attorneys in firms, both large and small, before venturing into the corporate world. In the years before retirement, I managed the law departments of two Fortune 500 companies.
And finally, there was time to climb the family tree and search for my roots! I couldn't join Ancestry.com fast enough. My mother (born and raised in England) had always told me our family was English. 100%. Period. End of discussion. Boy, was she surprised! Sadly, my father had passed away before I could tell him what a prominent Cherokee bloodline his father descended from. Unfortunately, Grandad rarely spoke of his Cherokee heritage.
Truthfully, I'd had only minimal experience visiting Find-A-Grave many years ago, but it was instrumental in helping me find my paternal great-grandmother for whom I'd been searching for years.
Since then, time and circumstance have intervened, as they often will, and I've done very little family research in quite a while. I didn't even know memorials could be made for our furry children until we lost our beloved orange tabby, Vinnie Van Gogh, in Feb 2020, and his sweet "Aunt" Sue put a memorial in place for him! How it has helped in our grieving process! (Sue worked with the animal rescue group who helped us adopt Vinnie, and little Skyler Rex before him, and we have remained friends.) Indeed, it has helped so much, that I created a memorial for Skyler, too, as well as for our departed dogs.
(Vinnie and Skyler were our only cats.)
A heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who have visited our fur babies and left flowers, tokens and kind messages behind. You may never realize just how much it means. Please, all of you -- be well.
