I am a sedimentary geologist and amateur historian. I have been researching my family's genealogy for over 40 years. I first got interested in genealogy while listening to stories my Granny told me about our relatives. She related stories about her great great grandparents who lived in the 18th century and I was hooked. The thing I most enjoy about genealogy is finding out how one's family participated in history and how they lived their daily lives. Reading original documents for my research has added immeasurably to my understanding of history. I only recently joined this website, so the only memorials I have thus far are family members.
