We are the Descendants of Mariners whom resided at the Sailors Snug Harbor Retirement Home (Staten Island, NY) during its years of operation (1833-1976).

Sailors' Snug Harbor has an interesting history. It was one of the first large scale retirement facilities in the United States. It was founded by the Randall family whom were New York City Sea Captains and Privateers during the French Indian War and American Revolution. Alexander Hamilton was a friend of the Randall Family and their Attorney. He helped write the Robert Richard Randall Will, in 1801, that created the SSH Trust which still exists today and provides financial assistance to Merchant Mariners.

The Descendants of SSH Mariners are working on a project to research the lives of the fifteen thousand forgotten SSH Mariners and honor them by creating FindAGrave Memorials for each Mariner. Some of the Mariners were famous Sea Captains and others sailed on famous Merchant and Naval Ships. For information about the SSH Mariners Records Research Project visit the following link:
