James Mahoney, born 1946 in The Bronx, NYC. I have been involved in genealogical research since I was a teenager in the mid-1960s. Educated in Roman Catholic parochial schools from grade school through college. I am professional librarian serving in public libraries since 1985, after a term from 1971-1979 in a seminary library and archives. I am now an Episcopalian, lay minister and involved with religious community life.
I have done extensive primary research at the NYC Municipal Archives for various branches of my family, and other libraries as well as on-line research in US and Irish records, creating files on all branches. I am open to dialogue and collaboration with others on my family research and have also engaged in family research for a number of my friends and acquaintances.
My families include on my maternal side: O'Kane, Canders and McAlonen of Garvagh and Ballinameen in Londonderry County; Finneran in Roscommon, Kerrigans, Bartletts in Richmond & Lee Mass; many families in Guilford, Conn. including Hookers, Hubbards, Leetes, Cruttenden etc.
On my paternal side: Mahoney of Kerry; Flynn's of Cork; Myers of Bavaria,Germany & NJ & NY; McTiernans of Co Leitrim; Seery of Co.Fermanagh; Gallaghers & Wilsons of NYC
