A writer currently based in Massachusetts, my family tree wanders all over the Eastern part of North America. On my mother's side, the family names are Shattuck, Stewart, Oakes, Copeland and Vanderhoof. On my father's side, the news is more vague. The family names are Holmes, Lespaide, Beaudry and Numan (or Newman.) I am fortunate to be able to trace family members back to The Netherlands, Great Britain and France. The earliest arrivals coming to America in 1634. With each new detail I learn, it seems, another of my relatives dies, leaving me and my generation to continue documenting our ancestors as best we can.
