Bio

As a retired middle school science teacher, I find an outlet for my curious nature by researching family history. I am always on the trail of a new puzzle. Cemeteries provide so many clues.

My ancestors include English lead miners from Swaledale, sea captains and shipbuilders from Wells and Holkham, and families from Mecklenburg, Germany.

The surnames I am researching are Emersons, Fowlers, Calverts, Harkers, Lubbocks, Harms, Rossow, Kummerow and many more.

I have a lot of information on families from Benton and New Diggings, Wisconsin and Hobart, Indiana.

My public tree (Harms-Fowler Tree) on Ancestry.com has over 40,000 names. I try to carefully document my sources whenever possible. Much of my research is based on websites such as Familysearch.com, Free Reg, and the Yorkshire Dales Families website, as well as Find A Grave and Ancestry.com.

My husband and I live in the Seattle area.
