Great grandson of David C. Haynes and Isabella Doherty and James Madison Vaughn and Susan Reid. My great-great grandfather was Bartholomew Haynes, a Revolutionary War Patriot, who was married to Sarah Carruth, and both were residents of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. My first ancestor to arrive in America was William Haines of Bedfordshire, England, who arrived at Boston in 1633 on board the ship "Griffin." He married Sarah Ingersoll in 1644 in Salem Town, Massachusetts Bay Colony. Their son, Thomas Haines was born in 1651 and he was married to Sarah Rae.
