I am an an amateur genealogist since early 2013 and love digging for new stories about my ancestors. I am a quintessential American with 3 of my great grandparents' lines going back to the each of the first 3 major American colonies in the mid-1600’s (Massachusetts, Virginia, and New Netherlands) and the other 5 coming over in the mid-1800’s mostly from Germany. Nearly all of my ancestors were living in Wisconsin by 1900, which is where I was born and raised, though I have been in Minneapolis since 2000. My German immigrant ancestors in rural Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties had names like Mueller, Thielke, Voigt, and Winkel, and my Iwer ancestors settled in Oshkosh. I also have Wisconsin ancestors in Richland county - Kidd, Schionover, Turner, Tanner, and others - most of whom have deeper colonial roots and ended up in SW Wisconsin via Ohio and Virginia. I am always interested in connecting with cousins (no matter how distant!) and sharing research.
