Born and reared in Texas, I first came to Illinois for graduate work at Univ of Illinois-Urbana and then spent my teaching career at Western Illinois University in Macomb. I have benefitted from the good work of other contributors and wish to be able to make an occasional contribution of my own.
All of my known ancestors had already reached this continent (North America) by 1800.
