I was born in Madison, Jefferson, Indiana and lived in Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana until I was a year old. My father moved us to Indianapolis, Indiana and I lived there until 2008 when I retired to Florida. If anyone would like photos taken of the cemeteries in Florida, please ask.

My ancestors were born, raised and lived most of their lives in Switzerland County, Indiana and the surrounding areas. I am very interested in their ancestors and genealogy.

I would be very happy to transfer any of my memorials. I am not sure if I would transfer any of my direct line, but ask me anyway and maybe we can work something out. I have added many other memorials who are not so closely related or are not even related at all. So, please feel free to ask.

I like to take photos of headstones in cemeteries for fun....I do not try to reach any goal on the number of photos I add. I just like taking the photos and adding them to memorials so others can have photos of their family markers.

I am very receptive to anyone sending me an edit on one of my memorials. I do not send edits to any memorials on findagrave as a lot of people are not so receptive and I do not want to be involved with any negative people.

I think we all have a responsibility to make sure all of our memorials have the correct information. If information is taken from the death records, keep in mind we can use the death information as it was filled out my the attending physician or coroner in most cases, but we need to be careful when using the birth information from the death record. The birth information is supplied by the informant and not taken from any true document, therefore we must rely on the memory of the informant and many of these birth dates do not agree with the birth record. I use the birth record for the birth date and the death record for the death date.

The social security document lists the place the person last lived, which may not be where they died. We must verify these also. Many of my ancestors lived in Switzerland County but many of them died in Carrollton, Kentucky and Madison, Jefferson, Indiana and the area hospitals, so even though they lived in Vevay, Switzerland County when they died, that is not actually where they died.

On the headstones for most women, the initial after their name is most of the time not their middle name initial but the first letter of their maiden name. So the headstone may say Mary J Pickett, but the J stands for her maiden name of Johnson and her true middle initial is H. It is found this way on 90% of the headstones I see.
