James Hart grew up near Bogard, Missouri, on a farm my father purchased from the family of John and Cora Smithpeter west of Rush Chapel Church on state highway T. The house is now gone and the land belongs to Merl O'Neal of Tina, Missouri.
If one Googles Hart's Lake, Bogard, map and satellite images will show the exact location. My father James M. Hart dug the lake in the 1950's; it was named for him in an Army Corps of Engineers survey done in the 1980's. My ancestors and other deceased members of the Hart family are mostly buried at Ebenezer Cemetery, west of Bogard; and my mother's Wagaman family members are buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carrollton, Missouri. I have other Carroll County family connections from either family resting at Big Creek Cemetery, Powell Cemetery, Pleasant Hill Cemetery, and McCroskie Creek Cemetery, to name the ones I am presently more aware of. I live in Brookfield, Missouri. I am a poet and an English teacher at Brookfield High School, where I have been employed since 1976.
