When my husband's mother died in July 2013, he was left without siblings or parents. When my own mother died unexpectedly just 3-1/2 weeks later, my interest in family research suddenly switched into high gear. We'd always had mystery in my family history, and I'd joined an ancestry site in fall of 2012 to puzzle it out. But I guess it took our moms' sudden passing to light my fire, research-wise. Before August 2013 was out, I'd found the mystery man (my dad's bio dad with the alias) as well as the family he'd sired under that alias after abandoning Dad's family. By spring of 2014, I'd discovered there was a half-family sired before my dad's family, too. After two trips to meet these extraordinary half-family kin, I'm pretty well hooked on genealogical research. Though, due to our unique family history, I confess to searching more 'horizontally' across the tree than vertically 'up' the tree for the time being.

I hope that my research and contributions here are helpful to you. I am continuing to research the Murphy and Parr families of MD, PA, and WV. Other branches I'm researching include these surnames: Baker Koester Scheinert Straszacker; Taylor Rainey Dunn Carter; Cummings Summers Dodd Armentrout; Murphy Fazenbaker Michael; Hassink Hulleman; Becker Groff
