Moved from Tipton, Indiana to Phoenix, Arizona in May 1960, attended North Phoenix high 1960-1964
from 1965-1968 I attended 3 semesters at Arizona State, enlisted in the National Guard of AZ and in May 65 to Aug 65 was on active duty at Fort Polk, LA for Basis and Fort Gordon, GA for Military Police Training. I continue in the Guard and for 6 month in last half of 1968 with the Army Reserve as Drill Sgt. in Yakima Washington then back to AZ, serving to Feb 1972. I was married in Mar 1968, work transfer to Yakima in July 1968, back to Phoenix in Dec 1968. From 1969 to 2013 was in Big Box Retail as a General Manager with Totem Stores, TG&Y Family Centers, was remarried in Nov 1984 and from Feb 1985 to 2013 spent my last 25 years as General Manger with Target Stores. I have lived in Tipton IN, Phoenix AZ, Escondido CA, Tucson AZ, Santa Barbara/Goleta CA, Santa Paula CA, Oxnard CA, Canoga Park CA, Ventura CA, Yuba City CA, Redding CA, and now retired in Menifee CA. I had 4 daughters and a son in the middle. My son passed away at age 30. I currently have 9 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters as of Sept 2017. My son had left me two daughters ages 5 and 3 at the time with a wife 8 mo. pregnant giving my grandson David E. Raines, III one month after his father's deaths. I have a great family and family history dating back to founding of this Great United States. My father started genealogy research some 40 years ago and passed in on to me and we currently have over 36,000 names in our tree.
