I've been interested in finding my family roots for some time and recently started really digging into finding more info. As a result I found Find A Grave and have found it a valuable tool for researchers. So I signed up in the hopes to not only find more info for my own research, but to also help others along the way.
My primary Surnames of interest are DUFFRIN, KAPICA, SAVILLE,& TREADWAY and all of their collateral families. These families are primarily from Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, West Virginia/Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Germany, Poland and England. Also researching my husbands family names of FITZPATRICK, DUNN, MONROE & HENLEY all from southern Indiana, Ireland & Scotland.
I also volunteer to do photo requests in and around Prince George County & Petersburg, Virginia areas. This includes several of my favorite cemeteries: Poplar Grove National Cemetery in Dinwiddie County (Civil War graves from in and around the Petersburg area from the Siege of Petersburg battles); Historic, Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg; Southlawn Memorial Park; and Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George County.
When responding to photo requests, I also photo all surrounding graves to add photos to memorials and/or create memorials that aren't already shown in Find a Grave. I also try to research the individual(s) to find additional info such as spouses, parents, and perhaps bio info from an obit found in the local paper. I hope that my efforts help others in their research.
I welcome any additional info or updates/corrections to any of my memorials and request that you use the "Edit" tab to request those updates/corrections so the memorial # will accompany the request.
You are free to use any of my gravestone photos as long as the use is not for commercial gain. If you wish to copy and use my pictures I've posted of my relatives or their families, please contact me first as I'd like to meet new cousins first prior to granting permission to use my personal photos.
Please send any requests for transfers by using the "edit" tab and selecting the "Suggest any other correction or addition" option. Please state your relationship to the individual and I will gladly transfer any memorials that are not part of my family.
I have been known to be very generous in granting transfers as long as you have more of a vested interested in the memorial than I do. I believe family belongs to family no matter how far removed, if you do receive a transfer from me for one of your relatives, all I ask is that you be just as generous in the future if a more direct relative comes along, I would request that you please pass on the kindness.
