Bio

I have lived in 5 states over the last 44 years including Texas, Illinois, Louisiana, Georgia, and Mississippi, In 2015 after my husband retired, we moved to Shreveport, LA.

I had to retire from teaching due to blowing three discs in my neck. I took a sabbatical for the surgery and recovery. When I returned to teaching, the kids kept me sick which lead to eventual permanent nerve damage from my neck to my right hand. This made grading papers and working on the computer very painful. I taught English for many years and Louisiana History, and some Am. History for my last 10 years of teaching. History is my one true love. I loved to cook and think up interesting ways to learn about Louisiana.

I have taken up genealogy as one of my current hobbies. I also love to read, craft, painting pictures, and sewing doll clothes for my granddaughters. I am currently researching all of my ancestors who were in the Civil War. All of my Great, greats fought except one I haven't found yet. Quite remarkably, I found that two of my great, great grandfathers were actually shooting at my husband's great, great grandfather as their regiments fought against each other in the Battle of Chickamauga. My husband's ancestor was part of the "Iron Brigade". They were suffering from an iron anemia at Chickamauga. My ancestors on the Confederate side were victorious in reaching their objectives and sending my husband's ancestor into retreat. I have it from independent sources that they and General Rosecrans retreated to Chattanooga, TN.

I will gladly help anyone who needs it. I am pretty good at research due to my two majors in college, English and history.
