Bio
I do not do obituaries, I put in the bio of some one, like this.
predeceased by wife Jane Doe, son John Doe, parents John and Jane Doe.
Along that line. This way I am not using living people's names which now Find a Grave would just as soon you didn't.
Suppose to belong to the CAF 10 years before using their rank before their name on the memorial.
RETIRED MEMBERS
A member, including one who holds honorary rank, who was honorably released after having served in the CAF for not less than 10 years, may be addressed orally by the rank held at the time of release. In correspondence, the word "Retired" or its abbreviated "Ret'd" will always be used after the name and post-nominals (if used) as stipulated in QR&O, Article 15.09.
Above all, Please be respectful to the deceased. Don't post documents in the photo section. It's the equivalent of Graffiti.
Find a Grave has done some changes which they call sensitive information., or living people names. A lot of people have been posting obits on the picture part of the memorial. Also Canadian Law is a lot stricter than USA laws. So please adhere to them, and the copyrighted laws of Funeral Homes, and Newspapers.
Also this
It has been confirmed that the Canadian Virtual War Memorial DOES NOT refer to those Canadians that they commemorate, and whose names have been entered in one of Canada's 8 Books of Remembrance, as 'veterans'. [Veterans Affairs Canada (Commemoration Division) statement: "With respect to those who have died in service, our department does not refer to them as Veterans. This is simply because they sadly never had the opportunity to become Veterans as they lost their lives..." because of their military service. "Instead, we commonly refer to these individuals as War Dead (if they died during the great conflicts of the 20th century) or the Fallen."]
So an active military person who passes will not have a Veteran designation.
Only use the veteran designation "as appropriate according to the customs and culture of the individual being memorialized."
