Bio
Our CLARK progenitor is JOHN CLARK (1740-1818); b. Bedford, Westchester county, NY, d. Springport, Cayuga county, NY; had brothers Abel (ca 1745-ca 1810 Bedford/Poundridge), Jonathan (ca 1748-Sept 1833 Poundridge), Jabez (ca 1753-aft 1810 Bedford/Poundridge), and a sister Hannah. They lived near Cross River in the Honey Hollow Rd / Stone Hill Rd area, possibly within the furthest southwest corner of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Their neighbors included: Stephen Green, Benjamin Green, Henry Miller and area surnames of Scofield, Avery, and Lockwood. My area of study is the three brothers (Able, Jabez, Jonathan) who remained in Poundridge and raised their families there. Little is known of them, and little is known of the period in question (pre-1850). I'm seeking evidence; to that end I am doing studies of the small rural cemeteries in the target area.
