A native Tennessean, I was born in Kingsport and reared (or raised, as you prefer) in Sullivan County just outside of Kingsport. I attended Sullivan County schools, graduating from Sullivan High School in 1959. Living 100 miles or so from my mother's extended family, resulted in not seeing much of them. My father's family wasn't close (emotionally), so we didn't see much of them, either. Consequently, I knew very little about my family background until getting into genealogy research. I married my high school sweetheart. She passed away on 22 Jan 2019, after 59 1/2 years of marriage. Having spent 24 years in the U. S. Navy and 18 years in my 2nd career, as a civilian working for the Navy, my family and I lived in several places around the world. My two sisters as well as several nephews and nieces still live in and around Kingsport. My oldest brother passed away at 20 years of age. Another older brother lives in Pennsylvania. Our sons, grandchildren and other nephews and nieces are scattered around the country.
