Bio
Sam and I raised our 6 kids in the same house we have lived in for 35 years.
Sam's family owned Fir Lawn Cemetery at the west edge of Hillsboro, Oregon from the time he was a young boy until 1997. He and his brothers still own and operate the memorial business his father bought right after WW2 ended. Currently half of our children also work in our family business.
I am a substitute teacher in alternative and special ed classes around the county. I am also an obsessive amateur photographer and a sporadic family historian.
I grew up in a family that regularly visited the graves of family members each Memorial Day time to clean the markers and graves (in the unmaintained cemeteries) and place flowers - usually grown in family flower gardens. I felt very comfortable joining a family that owned and operated a cemetery, funeral home, and monument business.
