Bio

I have lots of ancestors in the Tampa, Hillsborough area, mostly Hendersons -- with some Stallings and Spencers sprinkled here and there. My great-great grandfather was William Benton Henderson. The other side of mother's family are the Courtenays of Georgia.

On dad's side are the Walkers and the Mounces, Holmans, Fessendens from South Carolina, Massachusetts and Georgia. Also, the Woolleys/Wooleys.

My parents spent about 25-30 years on our family tree, doing it the hard way (before computers). They enjoyed travelling throughout the south, visiting libraries, cemeteries, courthouses and relatives. Both have since passed away, and I am carrying on the torch. I sure wish they could see the extra puzzle pieces I have discovered online!

Since mother's death last fall, I have been immersed in family pages, old photographs and letters, etc., and I am obsessed with organizing, sharing and scrapbooking my family's history, so that it makes sense to the next generation. :)

Now working on hubby's family. They consist of Anderson/Halter/Patheals/Memerings mostly of Indiana and Illinois. Other names in the tree are: Robinson/Stokeley/Layman/Boles/Moyes/Westfall/Campbell. Any connections, I'm anxious to hear from you. :)

P.S. Everyone is welcome to share any and all of my photos. I'm not interested in winning any contests here. I'm only interested in searching ancestors and helping others whenever I can. Life is too short to bicker about things that won't matter 100 years from now (as my grandfather used to say). I have really enjoyed interacting with people on Findagrave.com. The majority of them are good peeps! :)

NOTE: THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE TAKEN MY PHOTO REQUESTS, BUT HAVE MESSAGES DISABLED AND I CANNOT PERSONALLY THANK THEM FOR THEIR TROUBLE. I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR HELP!! -- Libby

My biggest challenge before I leave this world is to find information on my husband's g-g-grandfather, RUFUS L ANDERSON. It is difficult to find records in the 1800's for the Hardin/Pope Counties in Illinois, due to several fires that destroyed documents. I have a picture of Rufus with his son (a child), John Henry Anderson. Rufus was born in 1840, Marion, Missouri. Ended up in Golconda, IL. Was a Union soldier in the Civil War and was mustered out in Hempstead, Texas in 1865. (I have his original release papers!) I don't know his wife's maiden name, but she married another Union soldier with the last name Weatherington. She tried to get pensions from both husbands. Do not know if she and Rufus had any other children besides John "Johnny" Henry Anderson. I do not know where Rufus is buried. It's driving me CRAZY! :)
