Birth 30 Nov 1955 in Washington, Daviess, Indiana, USA

Reside in Springhill, Hernando, Florida

10 years ago I started a search for my Family Lineage from Southern Indiana, Washington, Daviess Co., Indiana, as I knew very little of who I am since my Father passed when I was 2 years old and he was 28. I have now joined the Withlacoochee Chapter, Florida Sons of the American Revolution and now try to assist those that need help in keeping their Family history alive and available for present and future families.

For those that wonder what the youngest age for a soldier to have served during the American Revolutionary War, it was 11 Years old. For the British and Loyalist it was 10.

Stamford's Soldiers: Genealogical Biographies of Revolutionary War Patriots from Stamford, Connecticut. Compiled by Wicks & Olson, Stamford Gen. Soc.
On page 23, Bishop, Hezekiah Aged eleven years, he served as a guard of public stores at the Presbyterian Meeting House, North Stamford, from March 1777 to Sept. 1777 when stores were removed to Danbury, where they were later burned by the British. He was a ranger for six months in the state troops in January 1780, commanded by Capt. Charles Smith. Hezekiah never signed enlisting orders, but entered service as a private and substitute for Benjamin Weed, who gave Hezekiah line pay and rations for taking his place. Hezekiah Bishop was born June 10, 1766, son of Benjamin Bishop, Jr. and his wife, Mary Scofield, who were married on the 24th of Sept. 1764. He was baptised on the 22 of June, 1766 at the 1st Congregational Church, Stamford. He married, 31 of Jan. 1796, to Polly Coggshall, who was born in 1778.
