I am a descendant of the Whelan/McBride/Dunn(e)s on my maternal grandfather's side, Peter James Whelan,and the Kelly/Cody families on my maternal grandmother's side. The Kellys came from Ireland and lived in the Republic of Texas. My father's family came to America in the 1730's, and settled in the colony of North Carolina. After the American Revolution, they moved to Kentucky.
