I am the GG Grandson of John Leonard Bishop. We have a mystery in our family history that states John Leonard may not be a Bishop. He was supposedly picked up by Dr. James Wilson Bishop of Republic, Mo. in his teens after some tragedy took his family and they gave him the Bishop name. Current history states John Leonard as James younger brother. Any help to this mystery would be greatly appreciated. Our Bishops settled in southern Missouri in the Christian and Greene county areas.
