In high school and college, he was always an athlete playing baseball, soccer, wrestling, and golf. On September 4, 1972, he married Carol Amelia Barrow , at St. John's Episcopal Church, Ellicott City, Maryland. That marriage ended in divorce in 1975 with no children. On August 13, 1977, at Truro Episcopal Church, Fairfax, Virginia, he married Penelope Upshur Pritchard Logsdon, born July 22, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Martha Lee Upshur (born July 31, 1920) and Charles Austin Pritchard (August 3, 1912 - November 4, 1999) of Richmond, Virginia, with her two children: Elizabeth Page Logsdon, born January 1, 1968, in Alexandria, Virginia, and Michael Cary Logsdon, born November 19, 1970, in Alexandria, Virginia. After teaching and coaching for five years in Georgia and Florida, George worked for the Office of the Secretary of Defense in the Pentagon and environs in contract management and logistics for 28 years, then was parish administrator of St. George's Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for over five years. He retired in April 2007, to write "The Beddoe Family: The Descendants of Edward Beddoe (1798-1860)", a work in progress. He lived from 1989 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
