I enjoy exploring Oregon, driving in the country, and finding historic cemeteries, and anything else interesting on the way. My dog always comes along as my sidekick. I like seeing the old artwork, symbolism, and epitaphs. Mostly these photos are in Lane County. I think it would be fun to meet someone else who has the same interests and we could go exploring together. :)

Here is a poem I wrote:

Inbetween two lonely grass farmlands
Up a long dirt road I walked
In the once somber foosteps of my past generations
To a small grove of trees
Where the old cemetery waits
Inviting to me
Is it's serene and quiet space
That I still come back to wander about in
Pondering all the stories
Surrounding each headstone
Where the deepest emotions forever linger
From the time when family once gathered
Like it's the only place that time has stopped
As the headstones stay in their original places
Over a hundred years later
The epitaphs and symbols speak out
Though could only grasp a small part
Of the sorrow once left there
And could only ever be felt
So I sit comfortably in the wild grass
And ponder the questions
In this place full of heartfelt expression
The outside world often seems so cold
And I start to feel the breeze come and stir
Moving all the plants differently
Like it's making this place come alive
And I start to understand...
Within the realm of the deepest grief
The most beautiful things are found
Either carved in stone
Or in your spirit
