Bio

"Genealogy is not chisled in stone but is derived from fleeting foot prints in the sand." - Author Unknown

I am from the St Louis area & my husband & I are raising four awesome kids who I hope someday inherit the 'Genealogy Bug'. Right now they just think Mom is strangely obsessed with dead people.

I have only just begun my journey into family history research, but have found it to be one of the most fulfilling hobbies I could ever undertake.

I found these poems & I love them....

Genealogy begins as an interest,

Becomes a hobby,

Continues as an avocation,

Takes over as an obsession and in its last stages

Is an incurable disease.

Old genealogist never die they just lose their census -Author Unknown

Dear Ancestor - Author Unknown

Your tombstone stands among the rest; neglected and alone,
The name and date are chiseled out on polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care, it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist. You died and I was born.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own.
Dear ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left,
who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved. I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot, and come to visit you.

"Why Me?" -Dot Stutter

Why me,
This is a tedious task, much work.
Not a great tree, my family,
Not any kind of tree,
A spindly twig....
A stunted sapling of little importance,
No forest giant we.

A pause

Ethereal whispers
Persuasive, soft and still.
"Daughter, if you don't remember us,
Who will?

"Genealogy Bug" -by Alice Mickey Weddle

Our world is a quiet, peaceful place
We go along at a smooth, even pace;
Until that bug, "Genealogy" bites
Then all is changed, both days and nights.

We search and research every nook and cranny
To find all we can about Gramps and Granny,
Dad and Mom, Uncles and Cousins
We quiz them all, dozens and dozens.

In books we read, in records we search
In old courthouses, and in the church;
We hope to find a great, or a great great
Where they lived, why and how they rate.

With pleasure our records we compile
Each one we add brings a smile:
We are inspired, life is much brighter
That bug, "Genealogy" is a real biter.

Our Ancestors

If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row
Would you be proud of them or not
Or don't you really know?

Some strange discoveries are made
In climbing family trees
And some of them you know, do not
Particularly please.

If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row,
There might be some of them perhaps
You wouldn't care to know.

But there's another question, which
Requires a different view.
IF you could meet your ancestors
Would they be proud of YOU?
