Find A Grave ID

I began researching my family history in 1978 and am still looking into most family lines. I published a very large book on my father’s family history in 2012. After my working career ended I turned to genealogical indexing and published the results of records I had worked on for Canada and the UK. Over the years I have transcribed thousands of tombstones in Alberta and Ontario and published the results long before Find A Grave came into existence. What a wonderful organization it is! I, like many others, have made use of it in my own research.

I am relatively new to the Find A Grave community. My time has been largely spent in providing additional information for memorials that I have found. Actually creating two new cemeteries is very new for me. Find A Grave now offers me the opportunity to share the information I have gathered on those folks who were buried in the two lost cemeteries of Stewart, BC.

My husband and I have spent a month each summer since 1988 (28 yrs) in the Stewart-Hyder area largely photographing the wildlife, flora and fauna of the area. During the last six years (2011-2016) I have spent countless hours researching the deaths of past residents of this area. Stewart history is fascinating. It was once called “The Town That Would Not Die” by a local author. It has been a boom and bust place with mining being the chief industry. I completed my book, “People of the Portland Canal District.” in 2016. The only copy, other than my own, is housed in the Stewart Museum. I expect this to be my last large research project but my interest in the two communities and the many happy times spent there will remain with me forever - as will my continuing interest in family research.

These will be the only two cemeteries I will manage. I will be more than glad to transfer any memorial to you if you so desire and I am more than glad to provide what information may be available from my book for any individual. Please contact me with your request.

Please note: There are no monuments left, therefore there are no photographs and none can be requested!!
