Bio

I am the son of Larue and Mary Mable Carico Whitt. I was born on the old Vince Whitt Homeplace, once owned by James Venters, near Pound, Wise County, VA. I have been involved in the family genealogy for many years now. I have family information on most of my connecting families which lived in the Wise, Dickenson, and some surrounding counties of Virginia. I have been to about all of the associated family cemeteries in the area.

My first wife, who is deceased was from Dale County, Alabama. I have researched her family and associated family lines. I remarried and have now become working on my present wife's family lines.

I served with the 101st ABN Div in Vietnam as a crewchief on a UH-1 helicopter with A Battery, 377th Arty, (Aviation). I retired from the 118th Airlift Wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard at Berryfield, Nashville, TN.

I love genealogy and the work that is involved in it. I love to visit the various cemeteries involved in my tracing of family history.

If you ever notice that I have added a photo to a memorial, I go to cemeteries looking for my friends and family. I always take a few more photos, then come home to see if a memorial has one listed, if the memorial is not entered I will try to enter it with the information that I have. I will look at different sources to help complete the memorial. I also like to go camping and when I do I take along my camera just in case we pass a cemetery that is along the way. As my bumper sticker reads: I Brake for Cemeteries.
