It all began innocently enough with a comment by my father, who had lost his mother when he was a young child that he had always wondered where his mother was buried.
After his death, I found myself in possession of a number of books and photos of his family and an interest in finding out about all these people began to take hold. The rest is history, so to speak.
I am a retired payroll professional with a love for history so it just seemed natural for me to expand on that love and delve into my own personal history. I have an extensive and comprehensive family tree on Ancestry.com (The Apple Pan - A Dowdy Family History), but as an extension of that tree, I've begun to add memorials to Find-A-Grave.com, or to expand on memorials established by others.
During the course of a road trip into New Mexico and Texas in 2007, I believe I have found where my father's mother is buried. Now I only wish that my father were still here so that I could share this news with him. One day --
