My husband's family is awash in photos and letters from the Crain and Baxter old timers and their ancestors. Year by year I work to upload photos for those individuals with FindAGrave memorials. Our family works to further the efforts of the Crain family to preserve their family history and the history of the long-defunct agrarian community they helped found in 1840s rural Illinois [Pulaski, Hancock County] by planning additional Crain donations to the Western Illinois University and sharing the portraits "forever free" on Find A Grave. Please do not reuse the images elsewhere without crediting the individual Find A Grave Memorial as the source.
I feel akin to my great-grandfather, Austin Thomas Byrne, who wrote in the preface to the 1902 edition of Inspection of the Materials and Workmanship Employed in Construction, "I wish to advise my reader that I am open to hints or suggestions with a view to improve or perfect the content . . . and that I shall receive them with pleasure."
