Find A Grave ID

I began to research my family genealogy during the 1970s starting with my grandmother Esther Bishop Britton's material.

For the last 40 years, I have processed Kane County, Illinois, records for other researchers which included the development of a Master Every Name Index for Kane County historical and genealogical materials. The index is approaching 1 million entries and can be accessed through the Kane County Genealogical Society. This work continues.

Four years ago I returned to my own genealogy research. Since then I have transcribed the diaries of my Grandmother Esther Bishop Britton and the 2 diaries written by my 2gr grandfather Leander Hackley Bishop in his search for gold - the diary written on his trip overland to the Sierra Nevada mountains in 1850 and his trip home in 1851.

Research for the Schroeder Cemetery, Section 19, Dundee Township, Kane County, Illinois, has been completed by 6 people. Biographies for 25 families have been written and descendants for most of the families have been found. The documentation and manuscripts have been given to the Dundee Township Historical Society. The project took 2 1/2 years.
