I find it very petty how some people on this site make it clear that they will not transfer memorials to anyone unless it's within Find A Grave's limited scope of close relation. They are usually those who have 1000's of memorials under their "control" that are at best half completed. They are more interested in their numbers than they are providing accurate information about those in the memorials. They like to quote Find-A-Grave's rules as though this is their personal power trip. In addition, who cares if your photos end up on Ancestry.com? Ask yourself, are you doing this because you want some kind of credit or because you want to help people find their ancestors and to honor the dead? These threats about copyright are ridiculous. Also, if you aren't a member of the family, please stop creating memorials before the deceased is EVEN IN THE GROUND. It's rude and inconsiderate. The family is hurting in Texas but you, sitting in Oregon, think it is ok to put in a memorial so you can add to your stats. That poor family member is going to see this and hurt more. They can't even add their own family member because you have beat them to it.

I will happily transfer to you if you are in any way more closly related to the person than I am. I don't care what Find-A-Grave's stated purpose is, this is a great geneaological resource and it is my primary reason for inputing and updating these memorials.
