I've been involved with genealogy since I first began tracing my family history when I was in my early teens. Many years later I am still heavily involved in genealogical projects including not only my family, but families of local veterans. My research has shown me too often that the graves of our ancestors are subjected to neglect and vandalism, a fact that has driven me to document as many graves as I can (particularly of Civil War veterans) to ensure that they are not lost forever.
