I was born on September 28, 1958, to Warren Harvey Harris and Eunice Marilyn (Brown) Harris at Schilling AFB, Kansas. I am the fifth of six children.

I am a graduate of Mascoutah High School, Washington University in St. Louis (BA), and Saint Louis University (MA). I taught at Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, Romania from October 2008 to October 2010 with the Fulbright Program.

I am currently a college instructor at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois. My paternal ancestral roots are found mostly in the Alton, Illinois area and my maternal ancestral roots are mainly in and around the Swedish communities of central Kansas.

I am a U.S. Navy veteran.
