Bio
I was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico and lived there until I married. My husband was in the Air Force, so I have lived in a number of states plus Germany. I'm a retired librarian whose interest in genealogy began in 1968. I have spent more than a few hours in cemeteries; alas, far too many of my ancestors were buried without tombstones.
I have been a member of The National Genealogical Society and Indiana Historical Society since 1977. I am also a member of the Alabama Genealogical Society, the DAR, the United States Daughters of the War of 1812, the Continental Society Daughters of the Indian Wars, the Dallas (Texas) Genealogical Society, and am a charter member of the Denton County (Texas) Genealogical Society. I have taken five courses at the Institute for Genealogy and Historical Research at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and have been to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City nine times. My other interests include quilting, travel, and reading mysteries.
My ancestral names include Searcy, McDonald, Stewart (2 lines) Butze, Boos, Archibald, Mason, Glasson, Bingham, Russell, Hopkins, Adcock, Brady, Roundtree. My husband's ancestors include Carrico, Smith (two lines), Logsdon, McIlvoy, Hardin.
