Bio

"Let those who come after see to it
that their name be not forgotten"

I've had a life long love of family history. Several of my maternal bloodlines, including Bane, Giffen, Giffin, Griffith, Hayes, Hepburn, Hinkle, Keyser, Lashley, Long, Milligan, Pond, Shahan and Spears, were pioneer settlers in what would become Belmont County, Ohio.

My paternal surnames are Carpatho-Rusyn and Slovak. They include Bacsa, Benetskie, Gulash (Gulyás), Jaszovszky, Kapinosz, Lesko, Magyar, Mikula and Rusnak.

Starting about 2002 I managed a genealogy research website at MyFamily.com for over 10 years. The site was for anyone researching Belmont County names. When the site was shut down by Ancestry we had over 1600 members and a database of almost 250,000 names.

I continue researching my bloodlines and DNA matches but I am always available to help anyone researching families here in Belmont and the surrounding counties in eastern Ohio and West Virginia.
