I was born in Jasper, Jasper, Texas 10/19/1946 to Grover Truett & Martha Katherine Stark Sharbutt. I grew up an only child in a house of adults. First my maternal great-aunt, Arabell Singletary Mixson, and then my paternal grandmother, Leona Mae Madera Sharbutt, lived with us in ill health. They were my good friends and playmates!! I lived in Kirbyville, TX, until I married my high school sweetheart, James Frederick May. We have lived in California, Louisiana, and Texas; raised 3 sons and a daughter; have 9 wonderful grandchildren; and have retired to Rayburn Country in northern Jasper County.
