Bio

My son, Dane Wright, recently renovated Kemper Cemetery as an Eagle Scout project. Many of the stones were broken and many were vandalized. He fixed them, if possible, embedded the broken marble ones in cement to prohibit further damage and vandalism, replaced the fence and planted flower bulbs near all of the ladies' graves. The lastest burial in Kemper is 1920. One interesting fact, the gravemarker of George W. Dewey, Co. B 34 Ind. Vet. Vol. Inf. was missing; however, his footstone was intact. After extensive mowing and weeding, we found his marker in the treerow, some 50 feet from his grave. The marker was placed on his grave, and it was a happy day.
